At BreakBuddy, your privacy and data security matter. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Your privacy is our priority

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use BreakBuddy:

a. Personal information

  • Name and email address, if account registration is required.
  • Relevant profile details, such as sabbatical timing.

b. Break planning data

  • Goals, tasks, reflections, and budget entries.
  • Check-ins, progress updates, and planner activity.

c. Journaling and reflections

  • Text and audio reflections you choose to store.
  • Mood, intention, and related check-in responses.

d. AI interactions

If you use AI features, the information sent to Google Gemini may include the prompt or message you submit; recent messages in the current coach conversation; goal text, category, and completion state; recent check-in dates, moods, reflections, and next steps; onboarding purpose, mode, duration, and desired outcomes; an audio-journal transcript or summary; or the goals and reflection answers used to create an end-of-break keepsake. Weekly digest generation may use your first name, recent mood and reflection, active-goal count, and selected streak information.

When output evaluation is enabled, TypeSafe Jev receives the generated output and a limited input appropriate to the feature, such as the current coach message, to decide whether the output should be shown. BreakBuddy does not currently give external personal agents access to account data or actions.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Help you set and track meaningful goals.
  • Offer reminders, reflections, and accountability support.
  • Provide AI-based planning and coaching features.
  • Improve and personalize the BreakBuddy experience.

We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

3. AI Coach and Reflections

  • Your messages and the relevant context categories listed above may be securely sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a reply.
  • Different AI features use different categories. For example, coach chat may use recent goals, check-ins, and conversation context, while check-in feedback uses the mood, reflection, and next steps submitted for that check-in.
  • AI-generated output may be sent to a separate evaluation provider for a safety and quality decision before it is displayed.

By using an AI-powered feature, you request this processing for that feature. If you prefer not to send data to an AI provider, do not use the AI Coach, AI-generated planning suggestions, AI feedback, or AI keepsake generation.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
  • We apply modern security controls to stored data.
  • Access to user data is restricted to what is necessary to operate the service.

5. Your Rights

  • Access, update, or delete your data.
  • Delete your account and associated records.

6. Third-Party Services

We may rely on providers such as Supabase and AI service vendors to operate core features. They receive only the data necessary to perform those services.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, we will notify you through the app or by email when appropriate.
